Life giving you lemons - happens all the time, right? All the Hang In There posters and greeting cards tell us to make 'lemonade'. But if you think about it, there's more to it than that.
You need to have your Sugar already in the pantry and your Ice already in the freezer so that your lemonade will be delicious when you do make it. (Maybe even add a little mint or ginger.)
What are these metaphorical ingredients? I look at it this way: if you already have coping skills in your toolbox and a financial safety net in your back pocket, those lemons aren't going to seem so bad. And they're not going to ruin you.
Let's talk about how to get you there. Coping skills (ice) help water down the stress of those sudden events life throws at you, so it's not so bitter. With solid coping mechanisms, you can work through a challenge to come out the other side even tougher. A good, easily maintained budget can help you grow a financial safety net so that you can have rainy-day funds (sugar) to make emergencies a little better to handle.
How about that mint? Ah, yes, a positive mindset will help us look for the silver lining and find the good in a bad situation.

Life Skills - How do you get your act together?
You know the feeling, don't you? Everyone else has their act together and you're missing out?
I'll tell you what, though, it's totally normal. And fortunately, there are only a few skills you need to master to give off the same vibe they do. We here at Swaim Life Skills Resources can help you with time management, work/life balance, and general stress coping skills in order to not feel frantic and to have that sense of being 'put together' that we all aim toward.
Other articles will tell you that these seemingly put-together people are all 'faking it' and are as clueless as the next guy. I disagree; I floundered for awhile, too, but then developed a skill set that has helped me immensely in mastering my days and my schedule, and never feeling overwhelmed. The keys to moving forward, to never treading water, are within your reach.
If you ever feel directionless, overwhelmed, constantly flustered, please contact us and we will help walk you through problem-solving strategies and let you become the best version of yourself.
You're already pretty awesome, we just want to help you become the best awesome you can be.
